Day 01 :
26th August, LEH - Arrival leh, welcome to guest at the airport and transfer to Guest House. full day rest for acclimatize well
Day 02 :
27th August, LEH - Day Leh-full day sightseeing ; [Shey palace, Thiksey Monastery, Hemis Monastery}
Shey Palace - was the old capital and the home of the kings of ladakh before the new capital become established in leh the palace site in a strategic position on a spur jutting out the Indus valley. the main temple contains a large Buddha statue sculpted by Nepalese craftsmen.
Thiksey Monastery - this large gompa is an impressive sight, situated on top of a craggy hill while the rest of the complex sprawls down beneath it. it was founded in the 15th century by gelukpa monks. stok, this has been royal palace since the king was dethroned by the dogras and is now the home of the last kings widow
Hemis Monastery - then proceeding towards the famous gompa in this area, around 35 km far from leh. This gompa was founded in the 17th century and is sometime called chang sang ling, the solitary palace of the compassionate ones; it belong to the kagyu pa sect inside the monastery you see the impressive image of Guru padma sambhava which is in a temple behind the dukhang. Day 03 :
28th August, LEH- LIKIR Morning after break fast drive to Basgo and Trek to liker, monastery enroute visit Basgo Monastery. Overnight camp or guest house. At likir.
BASGO- 40 km down stream from leh, It was the seat of power of a branch of the Namgyal family. It is here 1680 A.D that invading Mongol and Tibetans armies were held in check over a three year long siege. origin.
Likir monastery- founder in the 11th century AD and was rededicated to another monastery order the yellow sect in the 15th century, its earlier gompa was destroyed in fire. The present gompa date back to the 18th century, it contains huge clay images of Buddha ‘s past present 7 future] and various old manuscripts. also houses an interesting collection of thanks, old religious and domestic costumes and implements etc.
SHAM TREK - Trekking through the famous Apricots valleys of ladakh . Exotic Buddhist Monastery reflection one of the purely surviving Tibetan Buddhism.1000 year old magnificent murals & wall painting shukpachen,& timgmosgang. Drive through barren landscape.
Day 04 :
29th August, TREK STARTS- Likir- Yangthang Walking 4/5 hours Trek start the first leg the trek. After the villages cross over the pobe la . Enroute trek pass the lonely village of Sumdo . futher along a valley trek to reach chartse la and then arrive Yangthang village. Over night camp or guest house.
Day 05 :
30th August, Trek Yangthang- Hemis shukpachan via Rizung gonpa.walking 4/5 hours. Trek along wullu valley and after coming over shemchan la . arrive at the village of hemis- shukpachan. This village is popular throughout ladakh for its aromatic shukpa [cedar] Juniper which is used as an incense for religious purposes. visit small monastery and local house over night camp or guest house.
Day 06 :
31th August, Trek Hemis- shukpachan- Timasgang Walking 4/5 hours, trek through the ang village enter tingmosgang village, It was time to see blooming Apricot flower valleys the famous village of ladakh which is known for its apricots, apples walnuts, At the end of the village visit the ancient palace of tingmosgang surrounded by run buildings. Infact tingmosgang was once the capital of western ladakh over night camp or guest house
Day 07 :
02 September, Trek Timasgang- Khaltse Drive to lama yuru walking ¾ hours morning after the break fast trek khaltse crossing over Bongbong pa pass arrive at before khaltse drive to Khaltse lunch. Continue drive to Lamayuru over night guesthouse. Camp.
Day 08 :
Trek lamayuru- Wanla 4/5 hrs camp.
Lamayuru monastery - According to the legend, during the time of sakya muni Buddha there used to be a crystal clear lake where the monastery today stands.with the blessing of the lama the water of the lake receded leaving place for the monastery. The complex was founded in the 11th century and houses a library through to be the oldest in region. The present monastery dates back to the 16th century and has the 11 headed images of the avalokiteshwara Buddha, mainly in ruins it also has some murals and thankas. Considered the free zone of ladakh, not even a criminal can be apprehended here.
Day 09 :
Wanla to Alchi ¾ morning after the break fast drive to alchi.
ALCHI MONASTERY - 70 km from leh , on the bank of river Indus is Alchi monastery dating back to the 11th century. It is one of the largest and a famous monastery with a widely renowned collection of paintings. One of its walls features thousand od miniature sized picture of the Buddha . this monastery is maintained by the monks of likir monastery.
Day 10 :
Alchi- leh 70 km ¾ hrs drive back to leh. Overnight Hotel Holiday ladakh
Day 11 :
Leh- Delhi
