Trans Himalayan Challenge

Day 01 :
Arrival Delhi, reception at the airport, transfer to the hotel.

Day 02 : Dehli to Simla (1900 m)
Early morning departure to Simla by train. After 12 hours you will reach Simla ("The queen of the hill"). Simla is capital of the Himachal Pradesh and one of the most famous hill stations for Indian honeymoon couples. Overnight in hotel.

Day 03 : Visit Simla
After breakfast climb to the Jhaku hill to visit the Hanuman temple (the monkey God) , museum and advance study hall. After back to hotel for lunch. Free afternoon to visit the mall. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 04 : Simla to Sarahan (1920 m) 190 km
After breakfast, drive via Kufri, Narkandha and descend to the Rampur, the Himalayan kingdom of Rampur Busheher. Continue to Sarahan the summer capital of the Rampur Busheher. The Visit 1500 years old temple of and get a magnificent view of the Shir Khand peaks. Overnight in temple.

Day 05 : Sarahan to Sangla – Chhitkul (3450 m) 140 km
The gate way to Kinnaur, Leave for Sangla, also called Baspa Valley. Most beautiful valley of Kinnaur dominated by the Kamru fort visit the fort and village. Overnight in camp.

Day 06 : Sangla to Chitkul, back to Sangla
Full day visit till the last village of the valley, Chitkul and Rackchham, typical Kinnauri architecture. You can trek through the villages for couple of hours.

Day 07 : Sangla/ to Recongpeo (2290 m) 38km
Leave to Recongpeo the district headquarters of Kinnaur . Visit monastery in the town; the majesty of the Kinner Kailash mountain is in direct vision and is regarded as one of the mythical abodes of Lord Shiva. After visiting the monastery back to the camp site or guest house.

Day 08 : Recongpeo to Nako (3658 m) 107 km 6h
As we are entering into a restricted area there is a need for the inner line permit and passports will be checked at check posts at Jhangi. Drive towards to the Spiti via Khab where the Satlej joins into the Spiti river . Nako, the most charming village offers a magnificent view around. To the north of the village is the monastic complex belonging to the Drugpa order. Camp overnight.

Day 09 : Nako to Tabo (3050 m) 67 km 5h 
Today you are crossing two check posts at Chango and Sumdo, driving through several villages reached at Tabo. The monastery was founded in 996 A.D . often called the Ajanta of Himalayas. In trans Himalayas Buddhism, Tabo sanctity is next only to Tibet’s Tholing gompa.

Day 10 : Tabo to Pin valley (3700 m) 58km
Via Dhankar and Lalung gompa,Dhankar the ancient capital of Spiti king is the most incredibly situated Gompa, perched high on the barren rocky mountain slopes. Lalung :- The second most interested monastery of Spiti. Afternoon reach Pin valley known for its national park (home of the snow leopards, and ibex) Kungri gompa is the main centre of Nyingmapa sect in Spiti.

Day 11 : Pin valley to Kaza (3600 m) 43 km
Drive to Spiti sub divisional headquarter. Explore the tiny town and it's monastery, campsite is just out of the main Kaza.

Day 12 : Visit Kye and Kibber. (4200 m) back to Kaza
Visit the famous Kye Gompa perched high on a pyramid like mountain, which belongs to the Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Kibber is one of the highest permanent inhabited village in the world, situated at the elevation of 4200 m located in a semi bowl-shaped narrow valley. Evening return to the camp near Kaza.

Day 13 : Kaza to Lossar (4300 m) 56 km
Drive to Lossar through the several villages of the Spiti valley, last village of the valley, a Gompa and village can be visited, Overnight in the camp. Lossar is the last village of the Spiti valley, visit the village where the people are so hospitable and will offer you Tibetan tea and tsampa.

Day 14 : Losar - Gramphoo (3200 mts) - 74 kms
We enter the Lahaul region of Himachal Pradesh after crossing the 4500M high Kunzum La. Chandra and Bhaga rivers confluence at Gramphoo to Chandrabhaga River. Overnight in Gramphoo.

Day 15 : Gramphoo - Tandi (1926M) - 62 kms
Morning after breakfast we start cycling to reach Tandi (49 km) along Chandra river. Arrive Tandi and overnight stay in tents.

Day 16 : Tandi - Petseo : 43km
Morning after breakfast we start cycling to reach Darcha (43 km). Enroute stop at Gondhala to see the ancient Gondhala Fort. Pass by Keylong (3348 mt) - an oasis of green fields and Jispa (3142 mt). Stop at Jispa to visit a newly built monastery, which was specially built for H.H. the Dalai Lama. Arrive Darcha by evening and set-up camp for overnight stay.

Day 17 : Petseo -Tak :45km
Morning after breakfast we start cycling (35 km) to reach the intermediary camp. En route pass through Patseo (3811 mt) which has a very beautiful and big green pasture land. After Patseo the road passes through few high altitude lakes and there are many camp sites near these lakes. Arrive the intermediary camp and set-up camp for an overnight stay.

Day 18 : Tak - Sarchu :41km
Morning after breakfast we start cycling (41 km) to reach Sarchu. Sarchu is the border between Himachal and Jammu & Kashmir States. After a level stretch across large meadows such as Zingzingbar a gradual ascent up the Bhaga river leads to Baralacha Pass (4892 M). The word Baralacha means " a pass with cross roads". From here the snow covered peaks of the Barashigri, Chandrabhaga and Mulkila ranges are visible. Here the roads from Zanskar, Ladakh, Spiti and Lahaul meet together. Arrive Sarchu (4253 M) for dinner and overnight stay in tents.

Day 19 : Sarchu - Pang :84km
Morning after breakfast we start cycling (84 km) to reach Pang,

Enroute stop for a while at Lachulung La top (5065 mt). The third pass en route is reached after crossing the Tsarap Chu river. Ride up the zig/zag road, arrive at Pang and set-up camp for overnight stay.

Day 20 : Pang - Tagnlang La :63km
After breakfast we start cycling (63 km) to reach Tanglang La Pass (5328 mt), the 2nd highest motorable road. From the pass we cycle down to large More plains. In the distance you can see flocks of sheep belonging to the nomadic Changpas who in summer come down to the More plains for greener pasture. Set-up camp along a small stream at the base of pass for overnight stay.

Day 21: Tanglang La - Upshi :54km
Start cycling (54 km) to reach Upshi. The approach to Leh via a narrow valley along a stream. Pass villages of Rumtse, Gya, Meeru en route. Upshi is the first small commercial town of Leh with a small market. Arrive Upshi for dinner and overnight stay in tents.

Day 22 : Upshi - Leh :60km
Morning after breakfast start cycling (60 km) to reach Leh - the capital of the Ladakh region. From Upsi the road follows the Indus. Enroute visit Hemis Gompa - the biggest and the richest Monastery of Ladakh, Thiksey Gompa - a beautiful Monastery perched atop a hill and the ancient Palace of Shey. Arrive Leh by evening and check into hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 23 : Leh
Morning proceed for sightseeing tour of Phiyang, Spituk and Stok Palace. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 24 : Leh - Delhi
Board morning flight to Delhi.
